When it comes to choosing restaurants to dine at, I rarely choose a Mexican restaurant. Even though I love food, I can be very picky. Felipe’s definitely changed my opinion of Mexican food. Felipe’s is a restaurant that is in Louisiana and one in Cambridge, MA, that serves fresh Mexican styled dishes.
The prices at Felipe’s are great and the dishes are easily customizable. There’s an assembly line where you watch them create your order. I have only gotten nachos and I love them, so I stick with what I know. I only get two ingredients on my nachos: queso and chicken. I’m not a fan of cheese unless it’s melted. Usually if you ask for queso, they’ll put slices of it on the nachos and run them through the oven. However, when done this way, the cheese quickly hardens and then I don’t want it. My friend Liz let me in on a secret; ask them to put the already melted queso on top of warm nachos. Your nachos may become a little crispier since there’s no layer of protection from the heat of the oven. I don’t mind this. I just add my chicken and it is amazing. It’s simple and filling.
Being a Mexican restaurant, of course Felipe’s has great margaritas. What’s even better is that the margaritas are delicious and cheap. I ordered a strawberry mango margarita and it was perfect. I couldn’t taste too much alcohol, which is a quality I love in a cocktail. I recently found out there are a lot of specials that you can find here.
The atmosphere at Felipe’s is very cool, casual and fun. It’s a great place to grab food before or after going out or to get a bite to eat after work with a group of friends. If you’re on the fence with Mexican restaurants and you’re near a Felipe’s, stop in a grab an order of nachos, made the way you like, and a margarita. You may just change your mind.
