The New Classic Handbags
I read an article recently on The Style Guide by Farfetch.com titled “ICONIC LADIES’ HANDBAGS TO LUST AFTER” and it inspired me to write this post. I love the iconic, classic bags as much as any fashion enthusiast, but I am also LOVING the new wave of bags that, over the last few years, have become icons in their own right.
These are the bags that the future generation of style stalkers will lust after just as much as we do now.
The Mini
The mini bag has become a staple in every fashion girl’s closet and a few designers have created ones we can’t live without. The Proenza Schouler PS1 satchel, launched in 2008, is the hero bag in the PS line. The shape is timeless and it comes in so many textures and colors. The brand created a mini version of the beloved classic PS1 and it instantly was on its way to becoming a classic.
I remember when Gucci was everywhere a few years ago and now it’s back on top! There are a few bags from the Italian luxury fashion brand that are now new classics, including the “GG Supreme” mini chain bag above. Another more recently fashion crowd favorite is the Saint Laurent monogram cross body bag, also known as the “blogger bag”. It’s simple, it’s modern, and it’s here to stay.
The Carry-All
As mentioned above, the Proenza Schouler PS1 satchel won the hearts of every blogger, editor, and fashion enthusiast back when it was released in 2008 and remains a favorite today. These satchel styled bags are perfect for holding all of your daily necessities, and this is why career girls love them so much. The Chloé “Faye” bag and, much more recently, the Gucci “Dionysus“ have moved in as the new work/life bag. They are structured, roomy, and stylish.
The Backpack
Now, for my favorite new classic… the backpack. This is the ultimate hands-free travel bag. I love throwing my things in a sturdy backpack and heading on an adventure. Not only are backpacks perfect for travel, whether near or far, they are also perfect for going to the gym, a festival, or to work. Recently, backpacks have become the style of choice for many. I love the Fendi, Stella McCartney, and Mansur Gavriel ones above.
