The Luxe Minimalist was launched in 2013 after realizing I no longer felt connected to my original blog, Studded Bows, which I created in 2009 after graduating high school. I’ve always been passionate about writing, fashion, & beauty, so my blog quickly became my outlet to share what I was wearing and what products I was experimenting with.
Growing up in the amazing but small city of New Orleans, LA, I often dreamed of moving to New York City to work in beauty & fashion. After writing for a local lifestyle publication and graduating from the University of New Orleans with a B.A. in English – Journalism, my time had finally come. I packed up my room and headed to Brooklyn, NY where I broke into the beauty PR & Influencer Marketing industry, working with some of my favorite brands including as NET-A-PORTER, MAKE UP FOR EVER, African Pride Haircare, Tangle Teezer, and so many others. Having worked professionally in the beauty industry as a writer, publicist, and influencer marketing manager has given me a unique perspective that helps me create content that’s unique, visually pleasing, and engaging from a storytelling aspect.
Growing up with my nose in the pages of fashion magazines featuring ad campaigns full of luxury pieces, I quickly fell in love with the elevated designs and luxe textures. This is when my love of luxury began. In my journey to level up in my career and bank account, I’ve had to find ways to incorporate my love of luxury that were feasible for my budget, whether it’s through saving up, shopping sales and pre-loved, or using styling tricks to look expensive on any budget.
High-end beauty is one of my favorite way I like to treat myself to something luxurious that’s not too expensive. Although “luxury” and “expensive” are usually synonymous with one another, that’s not always the case. I’ve also been able to find high-quality beauty and fashion items that are as good as luxury pieces but half the price.
