When it comes to your skincare routine, sunscreen is the most important step. It protects against environmental aggressors such as sun damage (UVB + UVA rays) and pollution, which causes the first signs of aging. I must admit that I hadn’t been the best about wearing sunscreen before 2 years ago. I was so disappointed by the claims of different sunscreens being universal but always leaving a white cast leaving me looking ashy. That was until I discovered Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen. Read on for my Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen Review
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen Review
Two years ago after reading about the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen, I decided to order it online ahead of my trip to sunny Miami. Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen is a broad spectrum SPF 40 that claims to be water & sweat resistant and protect against UVA, UVB, infrared, and blue light (light from tech screens).
As a black woman, I had to try this “invisible” sunscreen out for myself and see if it could become a staple in my routine.
Read on to find out how it performed on my medium-deep skin.
The Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen has a light yellow tint but is completely clear when applied. The texture reminds me of a silicone primer like the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. I love how well it plays under makeup and although I don’t think this makes me oily, I wouldn’t say that it helps my makeup last longer either. I still use a foundation primer, since I am prone to shine after a few hours. This is also perfect for when I’m going makeup-free.
Swatch of Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen on Brown Skin
I’ve also been trying to increase the clean beauty products in my collection and this cruelty-free sunscreen has the Sephora Clean seal of approval. The Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen has that typical sunscreen smell, so if you’re looking for something that smells a little more pleasant or subtle, you may want to pass on this one. Also, if you don’t like the feeling of silicone primers, you may not enjoy this sunscreen. I personally don’t mind either of these properties in my sunscreen so this one has been perfect for me in my daily routine.
I would also love to find a sunscreen that’s a little thinner in texture and maybe one without the sunscreen smell for when I’m going to a daytime event. I’ll be testing out different ones to see if I can find something for those nicer daytime occasions and report back on my findings. But for everyday use, at $32, this clean, smoothing, oil-free sunscreen has become a holy grail in my skincare routine.
