Last week Glossier graced us with a new skincare launch that is meant to give you “Glossier Skin” in 1 step. Futuredew* is an oil serum hybrid that imparts a glow that is supposed to last all day. I was excited to receive the product from the brand to test it out for my fellow combo/oily girls to see how it worked with our skintype. Read on for my Glossier Futuredew review.
Overview
Glossier’s Futuredew retails for $24, is 1 fl oz, and sold on Glossier.com and at Glossier stores. Aesthetically, this product is meant to give you a dewy glow, popularly referred to as “Glossier skin”. As for the long-term skin benefits, it’s meant to nourish and moisturize the skin. Like all of Glossier products, this promotes the brand’s skincare first motto, aiming to help your skin look and feel healthier without makeup. Futuredew is also cruelty-free.
Packaging
Futuredew is packaged in a glass bottle in Glossier’s signature pink hue with a holographic shine for a little something extra. It comes with a pump for precise application and has a plastic cap. I love the packaging and how it looks on my bathroom counter, which you guys know is important to me. lol.
Texture + Smell
The actual product is a milky pink color and feels like a very moisturizing serum. When you massage it in the skin, it feels a little tacky at first but is less noticeable after a few minutes. It’s also fragrance-free but there’s a really light scent that is the natural smell of the oil blend.
Results
Now for the most important part–how it performs. As someone with combo/oily skin, I was interested to see how this reacts with my natural oils. First, I applied this product as directed–two pumps as the last step of my routine–and my skin had a healthy glow just as promised, initially. Later throughout the day I noticed that my T-zone was shinier than normal and my pores on both side of my nose were more noticeable. I figured I used too much of the product and used 1 pump the next day, only to be met with the same results.
Finally, I decided to use a pea size amount and only apply it to my dry areas which are my cheeks. I dabbed the product on with my ring finger like I’d apply a liquid highlighter and the results were amazing (see pics above)! I had finally figured out how to make the Futuredew work on my oily skin. I applied a little setting powder to my T-zone, so I was able to control where I glowed throughout the day.
SUBSCRIBE
Overall, I really like the Futuredew for lazy days when I want a healthy glow without having to apply too much makeup. Since it’s a skincare product, I can use it all over my face at night to nourish my skin and only apply it to my dry areas during the day.
I wouldn’t use this under makeup as it is a little tacky and I think it would be too heavy for my skin type. This would be the perfect product for someone with normal to dry skin looking for a dewy glow. As for us oily girls, I don’t think it’s a must-have product but if you do end up trying it, be strategic on where you place it or it could be a disaster.
These are just my first impressions. I’ll be playing around with this product more and testing it out in the cooler months when my skin tends to be more dry. More updates on this to come!
