The Story
Since this is the Luxe Minimalist, I want to start reviewing high-end products that I have purchased or been gifted to let you all know if I think it’s worth your hard earned dollar. Whenever I’ve made a more expensive purchase, I’ve always looked up reviews on the product before purchasing. I find some reviews helpful for determining if I’d like the product, how it wears, where I may be able to get it for less, and other tidbits I should know about it before buying. Sometimes, there aren’t a lot of reviews on the product I’m researching so I’m here to tell you what’s what.
I did a post a few months ago on how I’d wear the Spring 2016 trends featuring products from Farfetch. That post was also an entry to a competition amongst selected bloggers. I was so excited to find out that I’d won 2nd place and a very generous voucher to use on the site. If you haven’t shopped on Farfetch before, it’s basically a site that has a bunch of luxury boutiques from around the world. Most of them, if not all, are actual brick & mortar stores but choose to share their inventory on Farfetch as well. One of the items I purchased was this Comme Des Garçon pouch that I’d been eyeing for years. Read on to find out if it was worth the splurge.
Comme Des Garçons Pouch Review
Being TLM that I am, I used my voucher right away and got a few things that I’ve already teased on my blog. Now that it’s been a few months, I can give my honest review on them all. Today we’re talking all about the Comme des Garçon polka dot embossed glossy pouch. I had been eyeing this pouch in a bunch of different sizes for years. It also comes in wallet form in a few different sizes as well. I love the simplicity of it but how it also stands out. Though it’s all black, this isn’t something you would find just anywhere. It’s the details that have always intrigued me about CDG.
The pouch was $140 from Stefania Mode (Trapani, Italy). It’s sold at other boutiques on Farfetch but this one was the lowest price that I found. You can also get this pouch from other boutiques on Farfetch, Barneys, and NET-A-PORTER. The CDG pouch is all black with black embossed polka dots on the calfskin leather with a glossy finish. It’s also accented with gold lettering featuring the brand’s name right at the top and a gold zipper closing.
What I love about this pouch is that it’s small enough for traveling but big enough to actually fit things in it. I was able to fit my card case wallet, two lip products, and sunglasses inside. Those are my essentials so I’m happy I was able to fit them all inside. When traveling, I can see myself putting things like my wallet, boarding pass, lip balm, and even a sheet mask inside. I think pouches are great to throw inside of carry-ons so it’s easy to find an i.d./important documents. I also love this as something to hold my stuff when I’m just running out on a quick errand or to wear on an evening out. It wouldn’t be my first choice to bring out on a work day or day full of errands. But I have worn it out to breakfast and a day out just sightseeing and it was perfect.
I really love the simplicity of this pouch and I’m so happy I finally got my hands on this. I think it is worth the splurge because it’s made of quality materials and I can see myself having this for a long time. It’s a classic color and style that never goes out of style, so I won’t get bored of it anytime soon. Next on my list: the wallet in the same style and color.
