My fragrance of choice, lately, has been Elizabeth and James Nirvana. Elizabeth and James is one of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s clothing brands. I have always admired everything that the Olsen twins have done. They have so much style and an unbelievable work ethic. Their clothing lines, Elizabeth and JamesandThe Row are prime examples of their passions. Both lines are made with the highest levels of quality and detail.
They’ve done so well in the fashion world, that it was only a matter of time before they set their sights on beauty. Thus, Elizabeth and James Nirvana was born. Being Gemini twins, of course, Mary-Kate and Ashley had to create two different versions of their scent: Nirvana Black and Nirvana White.
When I heard that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen had created a fragrance and were pre-releasing a limited number for pre-sale around Christmas time, I rushed to Sephora and purchased one. I debated for a while but finally, I chose to get Nirvana Black first. I chose Nirvana Black because I thought that Nirvana White was more appropriate for the Spring/Summer. I got more use out of Nirvana Black during the Winter. My sister got me the Nirvana White for Christmas and I was so happy to have them both.
The fragrances are beautiful and so are the bottles. Nirvana Black comes in a black bottle with gold sides and textured squares and Nirvana White is the exact same but in a white bottle instead.
Nirvana Black is a warm and more sensual scent. It has notes of Violet, Vanilla, and Sandalwood. It’s definitely more of a night time fragrance. I love how it is deep, dark, and mysterious. Nirvana Black is such an accurate name for it. It’s the only scent that I own that is more grown-up. I like to wear this in more intimate settings, for example, dinner. It’s definitely sexy but edgy; my favorite combo.
Nirvana White is my go-to daytime scent. It’s a floral smell with notes of Peony, Muguet, and “Tender Musk”. Its description of being sophisticated, feminine, and captivating is spot on. Like Nirvana Black, Nirvana White is also a grown-up scent. It’s sophisticated without being too mature. It’s a great choice for professional events. When I wear either of these fragrances, I feel like I can do anything. All of the ladies in my family fell for Nirvana White and now they all own it too.
Both Nirvana Black and White are an Eau de Parfum, meaning they contain a more concentrated level of fragrance and thus, last longer on the skin. You only need one spray on the skin and these fragrances last all day long. If you usually spritz your perfume all over, be careful with these. You may be a little overwhelmed if you do more than one spray. I love that only one spritz is necessary since Eau de Parfum is pretty expensive.
The Nirvana scents are aptly named; they make you feel so content and also powerful. They make you feel confident and ready to conquer the world. If a fragrance can give you those feelings, I say that it’s money well-spent.
