Although they’ve been around since 2017, it seems like clean skincare brand Biossance just popped up out of no where. You’ve probably seen their products housed in the infamous dark green bottles all over your Instagram timeline and headed straight to google to read reviews and determine if they’re worth it. If that’s how you’ve ended up here, welcome, and to my regular readers, hey y’all! I was also intrigued by the “Clean at Sephora” brand, so I placed my first order for a set that included the new Biossance Squalane+ Rose Vegan Lip Balm and their bestselling Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil. Read on for my Biossance review.
Biossance Squalane+ Rose Vegan Lip Balm Review
As I mentioned in my 2020 Beauty Resolutions, one of my goals this year is to use more clean & sustainable beauty products that use non-toxic ingredients and recyclable packaging. Thankfully, Biossance checks all of those boxes in addition to being super cute and effective. Lip balm is a great product to jump into clean beauty with since most of the time we end of ingesting some of whatever product we put on our lips. Formulated with Squalane, Hyaluronic Acid, Wakame Algae, and Rose Absolute to smooth and plump lips, the Biossance Squalane+ Rose Vegan Lip Balm makes my lips look and feel buttery smooth. I keep this little glass pot on my desk or nightstand and apply throughout the day. There isn’t a scent to this lip balm, which I was a bit disappointed about but it’s a far trade off for high-quality, safe ingredients.

Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil Review
I love a good face oil, so I was so excited to try out the Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil after reading so many great reviews on it. I was looking for another face oil to try after I ran out of my Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate and was happy to find another product that contained one of the main ingredients in M.R.C, Squalane. Squalane is an ingredient naturally produced in the skin that helps protect the moisture barrier to keep skin looking healthy. Overtime, our skin produces less and less Squalane, so it’s important to add it back into our skin to boost its ability to hold moisture and block out harmful environmental elements. The Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil contains a plant-derived Squalane that helps lock in moisture, an oil-soluble, stable form of Vitamin C called Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate to brighten the look of skin, and Chios Crystal Oil which is meant to help nurture skin and improve the look of firmness. I’m happy I was a little late to the party (this product originally launched in 2017) because I was able to get it in the limited-edition pink bottle.
Compared to the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, the Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil is a thinner, lightweight oil that I use in my morning and night routines. I love that this oil has Vitamin C as I love my products to brighten dull skin and in addition to providing hydration. The Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil is also fragrance-free. If you’re deciding between this and the Midnight Recovery Concentrate, I should note that this one is more expensive at $72 for 1oz versus the $50 you’ll pay for Kiehl’s for the same size. Even so, I love this lightweight oil for everyday to brighten and nourish my skin.

Overall, I’m happy with my first products from Biossance and I’m sure they won’t be my last (I’m already eyeing the Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil and new Squalane + 10% Lactic Acid Resurfacing Night Serum). The brand, which I’d describe as clean luxury skincare, uses natural versions of popular ingredients such as Vitamin C, Probiotics, Glycolic Acid and, of course, Squalane (this is the main/base ingredient in all of their products) to cleanse, treat, and moisturize skin without the harmful chemicals used in other skincare products. It’s no wonder Biossance have blown up and I can’t wait to try out more from the brand.
