A Day in Dumbo
My friend came to visit last weekend and after discovering that Coney Island wasn’t open that day, we decided to head over to DUMBO. DUMBO, which is short for “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass”, is a fun little area in Brooklyn that has amazing views of the city and just happens to be my favorite area in New York.
We started by having Dough doughnuts and lattes from Manny’s restaurant before heading to the train. Etsy was throwing a craft party, so we decided to stop by. There were temporary tattoos that we colored in ourselves and a photo booth that we took advantage of. The party was so fun! We also decided to have an impromptu photo shoot after discovering the famous instagram photo spot that has the Manhattan bridge in the backdrop.

We walked around DUMBO and a little bit after and discovered Jane’s Carousel and like the kids we are, we hopped right on. It was so much fun and it was beautiful to see the city while on it.
After charging our phones at the charging stations in Brooklyn Bridge Park, we headed to Midtown for some food. We chose Urbanspace since there were so many options there and got some Roberta’s pizza. We did some shopping at the Urban Outfitter’s and ran into a free modern dance performance in Bryant Park which is right across the street.
It seemed like everywhere we went, we ran into some unique New York landmark or experience that you can only get here. It was the perfect New York day and I am so happy I had a friend to enjoy it with. I encourage anyone with a friend that lives far away from their family and friends to visit that friend and spend time with them. It will make them feel so much better about their journey!
