Self care is something that is really important for your mental and physical health. Practicing self care can help lower stress levels, which can lower your risk for certain diseases.
I know that not everyone has a lot of time for themselves. Your self care routine can be as extensive or minimal as you’d like. Here are 3 small things you can do everyday to refresh mentally and physically.
Light a candle & listen to music
This is a really inexpensive way to get some aromatherapy in your life. There’s nothing I love more than lighting my favorite candle & listen to relaxing music, at the end of a long day. I recommend Jhene Aiko + any of the candles below.
Take a long, hot shower
Nothing rinses away stress like a long hot shower. It’s one of the times where I feel like I can truly clear my mind and meditate. Use this time to cleanse your body and your mind. It’s a simple thing that feels so luxurious – even more so when you add an oil or body scrub + a scented body butter.
Read for pleasure
Taking a few minutes a day to read something that’s not work or news-related can be just what you need to unwind. Reading is a great way to escape everyday worries. I love a good work of fiction to take me out of my head when I’m getting too bogged down by the struggle of reality.
Do An At-Home Beauty Treatment
If I could get a facial or massage everytime I was stressed out, I would. Unfortunately, my bank account is not built for that life, yet. Luckily, there are so many luxury beauty products in the market that I can use to get those pampering sessions right at home. If you feel like a new woman after a face mask or a fresh coat of nail polish, make time to do those things for yourself at home. My not-so-guilty pleasures are sheet masks. They are inexpensive but make me feel so good after.
One of the most underrated but best things we can do for ourselves is get enough sleep. I’m guilty of staying up longer than I should too, but I highly recommend taking naps and going to sleep early whenever you can. It’s so beneficial for your mental and physical state.
