Review | Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Masque

Shea Moisture Manuka honey matura oil masque

I randomly picked up this Shea Moisture Deep Conditioning Masque on one of my daily Target runs. I was out of my deep conditioner so I thought that this “Intense Hydration” one would work. And work it did.

The packaging of the Manuka Honey Shea Moisture line has a very luxe look and feel. The gold top and dark bottles and jars make the line look more expensive than it is. The texture of the masque is a thick consistency and the smell is light and pleasant.

I am used to applying hair masque to damp to dry hair but this one is to be applied on wet hair. I was surprised by this but it worked so well that I no longer have reservations. The moment I applied this masque to my wet hair, I knew that this was a good purchase. I could feel my hair being moisturized immediately after applying. The Shea Moisture moisture masque in the yellow jar usually feels like it’s sitting on the top of my hair. This one actually felt like it was absorbing into my strands.

I sat with this masque on my hair for 15 minutes, wrapped in a plastic cap and towel. The directions say to leave it on for 5 minutes, then rinse. For more intense conditioning, it says to use a plastic cap and heat for 30 minutes, so I had somewhere between a moderate to a deep condition in my 15 minutes.

After rinsing the conditioner out, my curls were popping! I was so amazed by the fact that my hair was defined from a deep conditioner. Not only was it defined, but it was also so soft and my BF said that my hair smelled really good.

I am the type of person to save on conditioner and splurge on a good leave-in and deep conditioner/hair masque. At $11.99 a jar, this Shea Moisture masque is a bargain for such good quality.

Have you tried anything of the products from Shea Moisture’s Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil line? What were your thoughts?
