I haven’t done any journal-styled posts on here in a while, so I thought I should update you on the current state of my life. Besides being a great way to connect with readers, these types of posts are always great to look back on. So let’s jump right in.
PR Girl
I’ve been working retail since I moved to New York to support myself while I pursue a career in the fashion/communications industry. I recently was offered an internship at a fashion, beauty, travel, and lifestyle PR firm in the women’s fashion department. I start at the beginning of next month and I cannot wait to start!
I’ve interned at a local fashion magazine in New Orleans and with a stylist here in New York and anytime I work in a fashion-oriented job, I feel like it’s where I truly belong. The fast-paced, unpredictable atmosphere is what excites me most and I definitely will get that with this upcoming internship. The PR firm works with a lot of different brands and fashion week is in September, so I’m going to be extremely busy. I’m excited to learn more about PR and working behind the scenes of fashion shows and events.
Making Friends in a New City
I’m so happy to have something to look forward to and give my attention. Like living anywhere, living in New York has its advantages and disadvantages. One of the disadvantages that I’m experiencing is not having much of a social life. I’m not a pro at making new friends as an adult. It just seems strange. I think this is because I don’t go out enough to meet new people. I’m hoping my internship leads me to meet lots of new people. I will get to see my friends back home soon! I’m headed back to New Orleans for a few days next week for a friend’s baby shower and I can’t wait to see my family and friends.
Looking forward to Fall
With this new internship coming, I’ve been looking for inspiration for Fall 2016. It’s only July and I’m already in Fall mode. Is it just me, or does it seem like as soon as you get a taste of one season, you’re ready for the next? I need to start living in the present but that’s a whole other story. I think it’s because I’m so excited about my new adventure with this internship that I’m already planning my fall wardrobe. I don’t even think stores have the fall collections out yet.
