I often stalk the beauty section of my favorite websites, admiring all of the beautifully packaged products. My bf thinks that I spend a lot of time in Sephora.. If only he knew how much time I spend on their website. Anyway, I know that more people are buying makeup and skincare products online. I thought I’d share my online beauty hauls and give my thoughts on ordering from each store. First up, the mother of all luxury products, NET-A-PORTER.
NET-A-PORTER has a really good selection of beauty categories, offering everything from makeup and skincare to candles and wellness supplements. The site also has many luxury beauty brands to shop from like Diptyque, Byredo, La Mer, and Tom Ford, to name a few. It’s beautifully designed and super easy navigate, often featuring mini curated shops based on themes, like Holiday, Vacation, etc
I’ve been wanting to try Burberry Beauty for a while. I added a bunch of products from the brand to my wish list a while ago. NET-A-PORTER makes it really easy to save your favorite products to shop later. I love that most of the makeup is shown on models with different skin tones. This makes it easier to determine if a shade would look good on me. I also love that apply the makeup to the model’s faces, not on their arms.
One pro of shopping on NET-A-PORTER is the fact that they offer free 3 day shipping. They also offer free returns; they included a return label with my order. I ordered on a Wednesday night and recieved it on a Friday.
My order came in a beautiful matte lidded black box, wrapped with NET-A-PORTER’s signature black and white ribbon. This was all inside of the usual brown shipping box. There was an option for more discreet packaging where you can choose to have everything in a plain brown box, sans the black box. I went for the prettier option and even added a complimentary note card, just to see how it would look.
Inside the black box, the actual products were packed in bubble bag, with “beauty NET-A-PORTER.COM” on the front, to protect the products inside. My order came packaged so beautifully that I felt like I was receiving a gift.
One downside to ordering on NET-A-PORTER is that they rarely have sales and when they do, they never include beauty products. However, it’s one of many stores apart of Ebates, so you’re able to earn cash back on anything you order. At the time I made my order, I was able to earn 3% cash back. Sign up here to start earning cash back on your online orders.
If I could improve anything about my shopping experience with NET-A-PORTER, it would be the offering of beauty samples. Unlike places like Sephora, they do not offer free samples with beauty orders. It would be so nice to receive some luxury beauty samples to try before splurging. Plus, I just love mini beauty products. This would also make the fact that there aren’t any beauty sales less of a problem.
I’d recommend NET-A-PORTER for whenever you need a nice gift – for yourself and others.
Recommend: 9.5/10
P.S. I ordered some things I had my eye on from Charlotte Tilbury (reviewed here) and Burberry Beauty (review coming soon).
