We’re all human and we all have bad days where everything seems to go wrong. Sometimes work, school, or society, in general, are stressful and put us in a bad mood. It can be hard to smile through certain situations, but smiling is what helps make things better. I’m a Gemini, which means I know a thing or two about being moody. However, I’m always striving to be as positive as possible. I’m a true believer in good vibes attracting more good, aka the law of attraction.
Here are some tricks I use to be positive in not so cheerful situations.
Listen to Happy Music
It’s true that some music can make us sad and emotional and some can make us happy and optimistic. There are certain songs that I listen to that can boost my mood instantly. Turn on your favorite upbeat song and sing along. Singing is the important part; you have to participate. I guarantee that you’ll feel better after.
Get Some Fresh Air
Getting out and getting some fresh air may be just what you need to clear your head. I try to get out every day during the workweek. It helps me feel refreshed and ready to power through the rest of the day. If the weather doesn’t permit, I suggest a simple change in scenery. Go to a coffee shop during your lunch break if you’re having a tough workday. Stay at a hotel if your roommates are bothering you. Do whatever you have to do to get some time alone and recharge.
Talk It Out
I find that venting really helps me feel better when I’ve had a negative experience. Talking it through either helps me figure out how I could have handled something differently, avoided it completely, or reaffirm that I was right in a situation. If you don’t have anyone to vent to, write it down. Journaling is a great way to express yourself; it can be so therapeutic.
Give Gratitude
Giving thanks for all that you have and all that is good in your life is an instant mood booster. Doing this will help put things in perspective and help you realize how good things really are. Saying “thank you” for things we can sometimes take for granted, like having a job, shelter, and water will also help you remember that overall, things are good.
Remove Yourself From The Negative Situation
If something is consistently putting you in a bad mood, I suggest removing it from your life. It doesn’t matter if it’s a job, friend, or apartment, you should not suffer through something everyday. I believe that life is about being happy and healthy and happiness is healthiness. Remove any negativity out of the life to make room for all of the positivity.
