My First Chanel Card Holder - The Luxe Minimalist

As my style started to develop in high school and my taste for luxury fashion started to grow stronger, Chanel became one of the top brands on my wishlist.

Everything about the high-end fashion house communicated luxury and elegance while maintaining a sense of youthfulness.

Over the years, I’ve been able to experience some of the magic through their beauty products but recently, I finally decided to treat myself to my first purchase from the Chanel boutique.

As I mentioned in my Guide to Starting Your Luxury Designer Collection, SLGs (small leather goods) are a great entry point to more high-end fashion houses and that’s what I chose for my first piece from Chanel.

If you read my luxury wishlist post, then you know that I’d been looking for a cardholder to replace my Saint Laurent one and after browsing options from Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton, I decided to treat myself to my first piece from Chanel.

I headed to the Chanel Boutique inside Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills where I added my name to added a waitlist to get inside. After about 10 minutes of browsing the shoe section, I received a call that a sales advisor was available to assist me.

TIP: If you have a credit card with a luxury department store, I recommend finding one with a Chanel boutique inside to maximize your reward points.

When I arrived, the SA showed me all of the available cardholders and although they were out of the Black Classic Card Holder with Grained Calfskin & Gold-Tone Metal that I had originally wanted, they did have it in beige.

The sales advisor let me know that the beige Chanel Card Holder color isn’t usually in stock but they frequently receive shipments of the black one. After looking at a few other options, I went with the beige caviar cardholder with gold-tone metal.

My SA created a profile, wrapped up my purchase, and also threw in an extra paper camellia flower used in their gift wrapping. I’m happy to say that my first experience shopping in a Chanel boutique was a very positive one.

I won’t be purchasing a handbag from the French fashion house anytime soon given the latest price increase but I am loving my cardholder so far and can see this being the first of many Chanel SLGs in my collection.
